LO: to design and plan a Victorian Christmas gift

Osborne House has issued a challenge, to create a gift fit for a queen. Some of the gifts will be displayed at Osborne House. We set about finding out about Victorian Christmas traditions. The children were surprised to find out that all our Christmas traditions come from the Victorians. They also watched a a video showing a typical Victorian Christmas, noticing the differences and similarities between then and now. The children then chose some activities to plan and design: a keepsake box and picture frame.

Lesson 7: Tuesday 2nd November 2021

LO: to create a model of Stonehenge from paper and card

Year 3 created 3D models of Stonehenge from paper and card. They worked with their partner, folding and pleating paper or card. Their challenge was to use two different coloured card to represent the Saracen and Blue stones which make up Stonehenge and arrange them in a horseshoe shape or circle ensuring that their card ‘stones’ stayed upright.

Lesson 4: Tuesday 28th September 2021

LO: to use sketching pencils to sketch an aerial view of Stonehenge from a picture

Year 3 experimented with different sketching pencils. They then chose two which they preferred to work with. They then had a go at using their sketching pencils to sketch a different view of Stonehenge. This time they looked at sketching a more 3D version and using their pencils to shade.
