LO: to follow a design brief
Year 3 chose from a variety of design briefs for Spider-Man, Goldilocks, Sleeping Beauty and Aladdin. They were required to follow the brief and include shapes and colours according to what they thought was appropriate for their ‘ client’.

Year 3 continued with their careful observation of the patterns found on animals. Look at their amazing work below.















LO: to observe and copy patterns on an animal
Year 3 continued their work on exploring patterns and looking at patterns all around by observing the different patterns found in nature, in particular on a variety of different animals. They each chose a different animal pattern to observe and then copy. They have taken great care with their observations.

Year 3 continued their work with patterns by using a stencil to create and decorate their chosen pattern using different shading techniques.

Year 3 continued their work on patterns by looking at how rotation, symmetry and reflection is used to create patterns. They then chose their own patterned shapes and on a grid used rotation, symmetry and refelction to create their own designs.

Year 3 continued with creating a colourful fact file about Orla Kiely. They then chose one of her designs to continue in a different colour way by cutting out a shape and looking carefully at the pattern.



























LO: to look at patterns and the work of Orla Kiely
Year 3 started a new topic of Patterns. They looked at patterns that are found all around them in everyday life. They then were introduced to the work of Orla Kiely and the pattern designs that she has designed. The children found out some facts about her and started to create a colourful fact file about her, which they will complete next week.









LO: to create a Victorian Christmas gift
Year 3 continued with their Victorian gift creations. The paper mache boxes are taking shape, with some children painting them, next step is to make the box and decorate it. The picture frames are one step closer to being completed, some sewing and a picture is the next step.











LO: to follow a design to create a Victorian gift
Year 3 started their Victorian gifts. Some children cut out their box templates and started to paper mache them. The other group of children, cut out some fabric in preparation for adding wadding to their picture frames.
